Woman claims rat head among chicken pieces while eating at Popeyes

Woman allegedly finds fried rat head at Popeyes in Harlem

A woman took to social media after she found something unusual in her Popeyes order – extra whiskers.

Rosemary Thomas, of Clifton Park, New York, was served a deep-fried rat’s head along with her meal at a Harlem Popeyes located at 2730 Frederick Douglass Boulevard, she claimed Sunday in a Facebook post.

Well, I think Popeyes might have to soon say goodbye to that five-star health rating if this crispy fried squeaker turns out to actually be a dead rat. People please free to share this picture.

She also added that the experience would have a “lasting effect” on her daughter, niece and sister.

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene inspected the Popeyes on April 21 and gave it an A grade, with a violation centering around food possibly being contaminated or discarded improperly.

“My daughter is traumatized”.

Thomas reportedly took her child to urgent care later that day after the girl experienced diarrhea and vomiting. The DOH, however, reported a year ago, that the eatery “harborage or conditions conducive to attracting vermin to the premises and/or allowing vermin to exist”.

Thomas also wrote that she sent the photos to local news outlets but received no response.

As recently as last May, the outlet famous for its fried fast food was called ‘not vermin proof.

Thomas was expected to bring her chicken to the restaurant Monday and meet with the franchise owner to test it.

Renee Kopowski, a spokeswoman for Popeyes, told DNAinfo Monday the corporate office reached out to the Harlem restaurant. We’ve checked with suppliers and they feel it is most likely chicken organ meat.

The netizen turned to social media after she was not immediately contacted by Popeyes customer service department. “In the meantime, he ordered a health department inspection and they found nothing out of the ordinary”.
