Pokemon Generations Anime Announced

Pokémon Generations Animated Short Series Debuts September 16

“Pokemon Generations looks back at each generation of the Pokemon video game series, diving into the stories of the games more deeply and getting to know characters and Pokemon better”.

While Generations is airing, Nintendo is set to release the next title in the series, Pokemon Sun and Moon for the Nintendo 3DS on November 18. Today, the Pokemon Company announced a surprise second anime, Pokemon Generations, which will celebrate the full 20 year history of the Pokemon franchise.

Pokemon Generations will launch September 16 at 9:00 AM Pacific Time, with all 18 episodes of the new series going live on the official Pokemon YouTube channel. The focus of Origins was limited to just Red and Blue as well, while Generations aims to cover all of the major Pokemon games in the series. We also got glimpses of Zygarde, Registeel, and the Legendary Beasts from Pokemon Gold and Silver.

The anime isn’t very long, so I’m happy to give it a look. Looker, a detective who’s appeared in multiple games, and the immortal AZ are also prominently featured in the poster.

Generations, according to a new trailer released Tuesday, will highlight some of the biggest moments from throughout the long-running series of Pokemon games starting with Pokemon Red and Blue and leading up to Pokemon X and Y.
