Next up for the Badgers will be a Big Ten West matchup at Iowa next Saturday.

Since last season’s Fiesta Bowl, redshirt senior center Pat Elflein, redshirt junior quarterback J.T. Barrett and junior linebacker Raekwon McMillan have been on a journey to figure out how the young players would buy into what they were saying.

Ohio State drove from its own 25-yard line to Wisconsin’s 4-yard line the next time it had the ball before the drive stalled and it had to settle for a 25-yard field goal by Tyler Durbin. The Buckeyes had two fourth-down conversions and a third-down conversion during the 13-play scoring drive.

The Penn State game was different with the Buckeyes getting off to a 17-0 lead before the Nittany Lions came back and forced the game to double overtime before Barrett and the Buckeyes were able to close the deal after two overtime scores by the Ohio State signal caller.

The Nittany Lions (4-2, 1-1) had last week off, meaning Barkley has rested up from his career-high 202-yard performance in the Lions’ 38-14 win over Maryland on October 8. That was Barrett’s 88th career touchdown, tying him with Braxton Miller for the most in school history.

Much like Wisconsin at Camp Randall, night games in Happy Valley are far from easy. Alex Hornibrook threw for 88 yards and a touchdown in 9-for-25 passes.

Clement was the catalyst on that scoring drive.

Brown, who had four touchdown catches against Oklahoma earlier this season, got separation against cornerback Derrick Tindal and went high to snare the ball.

Head coach Paul Chryst and his staff drew up a variety of ways to attack the Buckeye defense, including a jet sweep that let receiver Jazz Peavy run for 70 yards while running back Corey Clement rumbled for 164, mostly the more traditional way. On the first play by the Wisconsin offense, Hornibrook hit tight end Troy Fumagalli for a 28 yard pass. Hornibrook would end the game going 16 for 28 with 214 yards and one touchdowns.

After a second devastating loss for Wisconsin Football, the Badgers remain in the top ten in the latest version of this week’s rankings. Still undersized at 6-foot-1 and 285 pounds, Landers’ quickness is helping to make a disruptive difference along with fellow freshman Nick Bosa as part of a deep defensive line in his first year with the Buckeyes.

Barrett completed 6 of 14 passes for 81 yards and rushed for a team-leading 52. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer improved to an astounding 20-0 in true road games during his four-plus-seasons tenure.

Ohio State and MI will settle it on the field in late November, but we’re still going with the Buckeyes playing at home. The Buckeyes were repeatedly gashed on the ground for the first time this season.

MI has its best ranking since it was No. 3 after losing to Ohio State in ’06.

Now more than ever, it appears likely that Ohio State and MI are on a collision course for a November 26 regular-season finale between two undefeated teams. IU tied Maryland on September 9 at home without junior defender Grant Lillard and is now second in the conference table with Big Ten games remaining against Wisconsin and Michigan State, which are third and fourth in the standings, respectively. But No. 8 Wisconsin was the real deal. The Wolfpack missed a 33-yard field goal at the end of regulation before the Tigers prevailed in overtime.

He hit 17 of 29 passes for 226 yards and one touchdown. The first was from 32 yards and the other came from 22 yards.

RUSHING-OSU, J.Barrett 21-92, Cu.Samuel 12-46, M.Weber 11-46, De.Wilson 1-1.

Washington remained fifth, followed by Texas AM and Louisville.
