Miles has no plans to defend his record at LSU

As the uncertain future of LSU head coach Les Miles and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron continues to grab headlines, the recruiting class for 2016 will be watched closely. “It’s how I’ve always done it”. “The issue is that for these players, you want a great game plan, give them the opportunity to play and play well and allow them to have the success they’re capable of”. It didn’t take long to confirm that to be the case.

Seriously? What kind of self-centered dipshit talks this way? “And that’s how I’ve always done it. I’m sure, there’s a bunch of perimeter, but I do not, and I am not involved in it”.

And the LSU coach explained the importance of a talented set of players maintaining balance between the run and pass – himself seeming to juggle roles of simultaneously teaching and consoling the young fan.

There are legitimate criticisms of Miles: he has struggled with clock management, with quarterback recruiting and play, and his grasp of the English language is tenuous at best. Maybe even an unstoppable force. But the Tigers’ SEC record has declined each year since 2011, when LSU last won the SEC title. They’ve lost a lot since then. “But I don’t think it would be money, if he leaves, it would be wanting to go back to the SEC or the prestige of coaching in the SEC…”

It’s been an uncomfortable couple of weeks for Miles, fielding questions from the media about his career and listening to speculation about this weekend possibly being his final game with LSU.

“There absolutely is (extra motivation to win)”, Miles said, according to The Advocate’s Scott Rabalais. You’re not going to become great overnight.

A two-star recruit with offers from only Tulane, Louisiana-Monroe, Southeastern Louisiana and Florida Atlantic at the the time Tennessee took his commitment, Christmas-Giles has watched his popularity soar as major programs have evaluated the one-time diamond in the rough. We appreciate how hard he works. Quite frankly, there aren’t many coaches out there that fit LSU’s criteria. All indications are that he will likely decide between Florida and Florida State. “I don’t know. What are the actual people that make the decisions saying?”

For once, it looks like things are trending Tennessee’s direction- Missouri and SC are looking for new head coaches, Kentucky and Georgia are in disarray, and Florida is dealing with the fallout from a lack of depth and suspension.

If Miles’ contract is terminated, he has a hefty buyout clause.

Despite Miles’ grip on the head coaching job tenuous, this may have more to do with the interest the Gators have in Franks more than anything else.

“There has been no meeting and there will not be”, said TAF executive committee member Charlie Weems, a Shreveport attorney who also is a former chairman of the LSU Board of Supervisors.

“He’s our guy. We love him”, right guard Will Clapp said. But he does appear to be the top target at the moment.

The Tigers (7-3, 4-3 SEC) host Texas AM (8-3, 4-3) in their regular-season finale on Saturday, amid reports that Miles could fired afterward regardless of the outcome.

And it’s already off to a bad start.
