So after that, who better to follow things up than Lady Gaga?
Lady Gaga delivered memorable performances at the Academy Awards and Grammys, and, along with Beyoncé, almost upstaged Coldplay at last year’s Super Bowl. Per Billboard, the “Born This Way” singer is in discussions with the National Football League about taking part in the Super Bowl LI Halftime Show when it airs next year.
The NFL season is only one week old but rumors are already swirling about which artists will be headlining Super Bowl 51 in Houston, Texas in February. That year, Coldplay – with guests Beyonce and Bruno Mars – shared the halftime stage to mixed reviews.
Billboard’s sources say the NFL’s interest in Gaga is directly related to the National Anthem stunner.
The news comes a month after Adele revealed she had been approached to perform but turned the offer down.
A halftime performance at the Super Bowl would make ideal sense for the singer as she is preparing for the release of her next solo album. “We’re happy there is so much excitement about the show”.
Whether Lady Gaga performs at the halftime show or not, she’s set for a huge next couple of months. While no release date has been announced, Gaga told Elvis Duran on September 12 that the album is expected “really soon”.
