Karishma told Buzzfeed that her family thinks her decision was because her mother thinks that the guy is a ideal match for her. “I hope she blocked him and cut him out of her life for good”, says one commenter on Facebook.
But this is not all, after Karishma gracefully turned down the proposal, he goes on to do his bit of “mansplaining” saying, ‘It may be a temporary phase in life when you like dogs. We are talking of your life here’.
Though her family, felt the guy was “an eligible bachelor”, the girl rejected her after he refused to get on-board with the dog.
Adamant that she would not sacrifice her dog for anyone, she responded: ‘Yes I’m sure. “He couldn’t digest the fact that a dog can be someone’s priority”, says Karishma. There are arranged marriage websites and there’s communication between the two young people (instead of just two fathers shaking hands in a kitchen somewhere), which is what Walia and this dog-hater seemed to be doing.
Karishma, of course, could not even think of sharing her life with someone who wasn’t even remotely fond of her dog, whom she loves with all her heart. I gave up when he commented about my dog. “There was a lot of family pressure, and they still think I did the wrong thing by raising the concern about my dog”.
A Bengaluru girl had the balls to call off a ideal “rishta” by telling the guy that it won’t work out.
Karishma has been praised by animal lovers on Twitter. U go girl!’, and another added: ‘This is the kind of stuff I want to read. Walia is originally from Bengaluru, India, but works in Gurgaon, and was in talks with a man from a good family from New Delhi.
