Spokesperson for Emergency Ministry in Krasnoyarsk region, Yelena Yasterbkova, said: ‘At 11:45 local time, it was reported that the contact was lost with the Mi-8 helicopter belonging to airline Turukhan. It has a carrying capacity of 13 tons and 26 passengers and three crew members.
The 10 people that survived have been hospitalized, Oksana Gorbunova, spokeswoman for the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor’s Office was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency.
The Mi-8 helicopter, which was transporting 22 passengers and four crew members, crashed outside the town of Igarka in Western Siberia, some 2,800km northeast of Moscow.
Ten people injured in the air crash have been admitted to intensive care units, she added. “People are being evacuated”, local police told TASS.
The source said the helicopter made hard landing in difficult access area, its fuselage is destroyed.
