Hillary Clinton is accusing Donald Trump of giving “aid and comfort” to Islamic terrorists, declaring his anti-Muslim rhetoric helps the Islamic State group and other militants recruit new fighters.
Clinton said the country can meet the attacks in “concert with our values”.
Trump, who has in the past talked of the need for a resumption of harsh interrogation tactics like waterboarding for terrorism suspects, said authorities need to “get information” from the bombing suspect “before it comes no longer timely”, but that instead he would probably be coddled. “And they don’t want to be accused of all sorts of things”. Clinton characterized Trump as a divisive figure, noting that he has not apologized to Obama for repeatedly questioning whether he was born in the United States.
The Clinton campaign is also going after Trump for suggesting she might be in danger if she wasn’t protected by armed Secret Service agents.
He pointed to the Obama administration’s policy of admitting refugees from war-torn areas of the Middle East, such as Syria, in addition to lax border security.
“When I am President, terrorists like today’s suspect in the NY and New Jersey bombings, Ahmad Khan Rahami, and yesterday’s knife-wielding ISIS sympathizer in Minnesota, Dahir Adan, will be stopped”, Trump said in the statement. “It’s a rigged system, and I’ve been saying it for a long time”.
Clinton had seen a drop in national polls this week.
“Well, I think it’s important to know the facts about any incident like this”.
Clinton didn’t offer specifics during the speech about the tuition-free and debt-free college plans.
“We don’t want to do any profiling”, he said of current U.S. policy. Previously, we reported out results among respondents who indicated they were registered to vote. We’re being very gentle about it.
“It’s called leadership”, he added.
Clinton is also highlighting her résumé in drawing contrasts with Trump.
Clinton lost some support in the past couple of weeks after a case of pneumonia caused her to take a four-day break.
“I’m the only candidate in this race who’s been part of the hard decisions to take terrorists off the battlefield”, Mrs Clinton, a former secretary of state, told reporters. Tim Kaine appeared at Liacouras Center arena on Temple’s campus on July 29 after she accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination.
The poll found that both candidates are viewed unfavourably by likely Florida voters, with Clinton viewed unfavourably by 53% and Trump by 55%.
