A French journalist has claimed that David Luiz is a worse player now than when he left Chelsea two years ago after completing a £32m return to Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day.
Luiz left for PSG in June 2014 for 65.4 million dollars, a world record fee for a defender. I can not wait to wear the shirt and play at Stamford Bridge again.
David Luiz is on the verge of a Chelsea return, two years after being sold to Paris St Germain for €60 million.
Chelsea were spotted using an unorthodox 4-2-4 formation during pre-season – a system Conte is yet to deploy in the Premier League – and Luiz could easily play as a central defender or as a defensive minded central midfielder.
Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has welcomed the return of David Luiz to Stamford Bridge, while also admitting he is pleased Diego Costa made a decision to stay at the club.
News broke late on Tuesday night that Chelsea had made their move for the Brazilian global and we soon saw images of Luiz arriving in London to undergo his medical and finalise personal terms.
Luiz passed his medical and completed his return to Stamford Bridge five minutes before the summer transfer window was due to close.
Juventus on Wednesday announced Cuadrado had joined on loan until June 2019 for an annual fee of 5million euros (£4.25m), with the option for the deal to be made permanent for 25m euros (£21.25m).
However, the maverick defender then fell behind John Terry and Gary Cahill in the centre-back pecking order.
PSG had previously turned down approaches from Chelsea for both Luiz and his Brazilian team-mate Marquinhos, telling them that neither defender was for sale.
Luiz won The FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League during his first spell at Chelsea and became a fan favourite for his sensational goals and infectious personality. “It’s a step up in my career”, Alonso said on Chelsea’s website. “It is an interesting move and I hope he will help us win titles”. I love this club, so that’s why I am here.
