Bette Midler show breaks Broadway record

Bette Midler ‘Hello Dolly!’ Break Broadway Ticket Sales Record

It looks like Bette Midler’s upcoming revival of Hello, Dolly! is Broadway’s hottest new ticket!

Of the record-breaking news, Shubert Organization chairman Philip J. Smith and the organization’s president Robert E. Wankel said jointly in a statement, “We are thrilled with the tremendous response from ‘Hello, Dolly!’ ticket-buyers”.

The new Broadway production will be directed by four-time Tony Award victor Jerry Zaks and will begin performances on Broadway on 15 March in 2017. It was announced last week that alongside this leading duo will be Kate Baldwin, Gavin Creel, Jennifer Simard, Melanie Moore, and Will Burton, rounding out the production’s leading players. The show is one of three being produced by Rudin this season-the other two are “The Front Page” with Nathan Lane and John Goodman and “The Glass Menagerie” with Sally Field.

Home Theater Bette Midler Scores Best First Day Sales in Broadway History for “Hello, “. This hefty amount marks a very comfy cushion for the revival of the Michael Stewart/Jerry Herman mega-musical, especially when you consider there’s half a year to go before the show starts previews on March 15th.

Rudin and fellow lead producer Barry Diller on Monday announced that their Broadway transfer of the Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of The Humans, the 2016 Tony Award victor for best play, has recouped its $3.8 million capitalization. She has sold more than 35 million records worldwide and has had many chart-topping hits including “The Wind Beneath My Wings” and “From a Distance”.
